This 10.9, strenuous out-and-back, is worth the work! Hikers will gain nearly 3,500 feet in elevation during this hike. The trail will take hikers through forested trails, by running water, past waterfalls, around impressive rock formations, and to beautiful vistas with views of endless hilltops. There is also plenty of wildlife in the area, so keep your eyes out for deer and a variety of birds. As with most Sasquad hikes, it’s on the list for its likelihood of solitude. Read more.
East Temple Saddle Trail, Zion National Park

This 2.7-mile, strenuous loop, in Zion National Park still offers solitude if hikers go during less busy times of day. Generally, the hikes in this national park are pretty crowded, so this one is considered a gem! Hikers will be able to see Zion’s beauty through amazing views of the canyons, valleys, sand carved formations, and impressive rocks. Read more.
Sheep Creek Connector Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park

This 6.6-mile, moderate out-and-back, trail in Bryce Canyon National Park is much less explored than other hikes in the park and hikers will likely find plenty of solitude here. There is over 1,000 feet in elevation gain during the hike and the trail passes impressive views or hoodoos and rock formations, pine forest, and (in the right season) wildflowers. Read more.
