Sasquad hikes are selected for their uniqueness, solitude, and honoring local folklore. If you are looking for the most popular hikes, there are plenty of other websites that can help with that. We are looking for the trails less traveled. If you have ideas about hikes that should be on the page, let us know! If your hike is featured, we will send you free merch.

Whirlpool Rapids Adventure Hike, Niagra State Park

Description
______________
This strenuous 3.5-mile out-and-back is one of our favorites. The views of the rapids descending from Niagra Falls are beautiful. Loads of people visit the area, so you will see other people on the trail. However, far fewer people venture into the surrounding state parks. Most people don’t know that Niagra Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the U.S. That alone is worth a visit! Fair warning though, this area sees a lot of helicopters and boats, so expect some noise pollution as you hike this one. Head to the trail in the early morning (between 6:00-8:00 am) if you want to beat the noise. Read more.
