Coyote Buttes, South

An impressive monument that gets much less attention than its neighbor coined as “the wave.” You need a permit to hike Coyote Buttes South, but it is much less competitive and far less crowded. Aravaipa Canyon

This area is on the list because there are several hikes in the canyon, which boasts impressive formations, colorful desert, foliage and bodies of water. Best part is that it is maintain by the Bureau of Land Management, which only allows 50 visitors a day to enter the canyon (you must have a permit). South Kaibab Trail to Skeleton Point

There is no water access along the trail, so please read up on what you need to hike prepared. Around 250 people are rescued from the Grand Canyon each year due to a lack of preparedness and caution.

This out-and-back, moderate to strenuous, hike in the Grand Canyon National Park is 6 miles roundtrip. It offers unrivaled panoramic views of the Grand Canyon. The colors of the canyon will entrance hikers as they traverse down the trail (remember you also have to climb back up). West Fork, Oak Creek Canyon

This 6.5-mile, out-and-back, easy to moderate hike is known for its varying landscape and foliage. Hikers will see wildflowers, red rock, canyon walls, pine trees, and flowing water on this hike. Hikers will also likely see other people, as this is a very popular area. It is recommended that travelers visit between October through April, and to avoid crowds go in the early morning or evening.
